Vikhyath Veeramachaneni: President of the Virginia Commonwealth University Student Government Association

V ikhyath Veeramachaneni,   an information systems major, was recently elected President of the Virginia Commonwealth University Student Government Association. During the election, Vik ran against one other candidate and collected 838 votes. “We had a three-day period of voting for the elections. I finished with nearly 60 percent of the votes and the highest total for anyone participating in this election,” said Veeramachaneni. “I am grateful to have had great support from my Brothers, many friends and fellow classmates. Their help pushing my campaign forward and the personal approach with students on campus were key factors that contributed to my success,” he added.  Veeramachaneni also currently serves as Chapter president for Theta Xi chapter and plans to fulfill the rest of his term. Saketh Myneni in two finals of the ITF men’s Futures tennis tournament

  Top-seeded Saketh Myneni fought his way past sixth-seeded Abdullah Maqdas of Kuwait 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the semifinals of the $10,000 ITF men’s Futures tennis tournament in Meshref, Kuwait, on Friday. In the final, Saketh will play seventh-seeded Mohammad Ghareeb of Kuwait.  In doubles, Saketh and Patrick Davidson of the US made the final with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Matias Castro of Argentina and Thomas Statzberger of Austria. In the final, the Indo-American pair was drawn to play the top-seeded Lewis Burton and Marcus Willis of Britain.

Dama Seshadri Naidu appointed as Additional Judge to Andhra Pradesh High Court

Dama Seshadri Naidu , practicing advocate of the High Court Bar, on Thursday were appointed as the additional judge of the High Court. Naidu was born on June 19, 1962 in Tirupati and did his graduation in bachelor of arts from Andhra University, and completed his LLB from S.V. University, Tirupati. He is co son in law of Nara Ramamurthy Naidu, younger brother of Nara Chandrababu Naidu. He started his career in Tirupati courts, and shifted his practice to Hyderabad about 12 years ago.

N. Leelakrishnan wins Indian Touring Cars (ITC) class

Noida: N. Leelakrishnan was crowned champion in the Indian Touring Cars (ITC) class in the fifth and final round of the National Racing Championship at the Buddh International Circuit here Sunday. Leelakrishnan started on pole and convincingly led from start to finish. Arjun Balu starting second, also had a good start and was followed by Sivaramakrishnan and V. Ramnarayan. Arjun managed to stay in second with Sivaramkrishnan all over him. Sivaramkrishnan made his move on lap three and passed Arjun with Ramnarayan also getting past a lap later. Leelakrishnan was the first to cross the finish line but the penalty meant he ended up third which was good enough for the title. Balu finished second in the championship and Ramnarayan third. N. Leelakrishnan , also known as Leela in Indian motorsport circles, is a seven-time National Rally Champion and one time Formula 3 (India) champion from Coimbatore .

Nina Davuluri is the new sensation of the world. The Indian-American descent Nina has been crowned as Miss America. Nina Davuluri is the first contestant from the Indian heritage and second consecutive contestant from New York to win the Miss America 2014 pageant. The 24-year-old Nina Davuluri is the second consecutive Miss New York to win the Miss America pageant. She follows another Miss New York, Mallory Hagan who was crowned Miss America in 2013. Nutakki Priyanka emerge champion in National U-11 Chess

Hyderabad:  Newly appointed Director of the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) Dr Lavu Narendranath said his priority would be to improve patient care in the hospital. He also admitted that financial power was concentrated in a few hands and he would like to empower more people to have a say in the financial affairs of the institution. Dr Lavu Narendranath , a Padma Shri, took charge on Sunday as the new director of NIMS on the recommendations of the search committee. At one point, the search committee thought of bringing in new faces from outside the institution to lead it, but finally zeroed in on Dr Narendranath. Justice Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana appointed as Delhi's new Chief Justice

Justice Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana , a judge of the  Andhra Pradesh  High  Court , was Friday appointed as the chief justice of the  Delhi  High Court, an official statement said. Justice Ramana, 56, will succeed Chief Justice D. Murugesan, who retired in June. Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed has been the acting chief justice since then. "The president has appointed Justice Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana, judge of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh, as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Delhi with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office," said a law ministry statement. Justice Ramana was appointed as a permanent judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on June 27, 2000. He had enrolled as an advocate in February 1983 and has practiced in the Andhra Pradesh High Court, central and state administrative tribunals and the Supreme Court.
